| Scholarships will be offered to those
cadets and senior members annually who meet eligibility requirements.
For CAP Corporate Scholarships, the number of scholarships and the
dollar amount of those scholarships change from year to year depending
on available funds. Scholarship monies are sent directly to the
recipient and are to be used for tuition, books, or room and board.
Scholarship Applications are due by 31 January of each
year.

Scholarships
Explanation of Terms
- Scholarship - A one year monetary award
of a stated amount that is presented to a selected individual to
further ones' education. Note: All applicants must compete for
CAP Scholarships each year.
- Undergraduate - An applicant who has
completed less than 60 semester hours, or the equivalent, prior to
the start of the fall semester in which the scholarship is awarded.
- Advanced Undergraduate - An applicant
who has completed at least 60 semester hours, or the equivalent,
prior to the start of the fall semester in which the scholarship is
awarded.
- Graduate - An applicant who has, or will
have by the end of the current year, a baccalaureate degree from an
accredited college or university.

Scholarships
Undergraduate College Scholarships
- Undergraduate scholarships will be offered in each of four
disciplines (Engineering, Science, Education, or Humanities) according
to the amount of money available in the scholarship fund.
Advanced Undergraduate College Scholarships
- Advanced Undergraduate scholarships will be offered according to the
amount of money available in the scholarship fund.
Graduate Scholarships - Graduate
scholarships will be offered according to the amount of money available
in the scholarship fund. Students must hold a Baccalaureate degree when
they begin graduate work in the fall of the year of the award.
Technical/Vocational Scholarships
- Awarded to select cadets and senior members who are qualified for or
interested in furthering their education in courses at accredited trade,
technical, or vacation schools. These institutions must offer courses
such as aircraft maintenance, airframe technology, criminal justice,
human services, and associate degree programs.
Eligibility
- CAP Cadets must have received the Billy
Mitchell Award.
- CAP Senior Members must have received the Billy
Mitchell Award as a cadet or received the Senior Rating in Cadet
Programs Specialty Track of the Senior Training Program.
- Must be a High School Graduate or hold a GED.
- Must be accepted to a College/School or
certification that application has been made.
Application Requirements
- Must attach or have forwarded to HQ CAP/CPR official
high school/college transcripts.
- Scores on ACT/SAT college entrance exams.
- Statement of Acceptance from an accredited
college or university or certificate that application has been made.
- Recent photo in uniform attached to CAPF 95,
Application for CAP Scholarship.
- Statement from CAP Squadron Commander stating
active participation in squadron activities.
- No more than three (3) letters of
recommendation.
- The squadron and wing commanders' signatures
are required on the CAPF 95.
Selection
Procedures
A special committee selected by HQ CAP/CP (and
appointed by the CAP Executive Director and CAP-USAF Commander) will
meet and score the applications. Areas considered are academic
achievement, CAP accomplishments and activity, and extra-curricular
activities. Selections will be based upon the respective standings of
applicants as established by their applications and required supporting
documents. All required information must be submitted before the
application will be considered. It is the applicant's responsibility to
ensure that ALL required materials are submitted on time. The deadline
for CAP Corporate Scholarships is 31 January each year.
Each of the top five applications, scored by the scholarship selection
committee, will be awarded a $1,000 USAA
scholarship in lieu of the general CAP Corporate Scholarship.
Renewals
A CAP Scholarship is a one-year monetary award and
is not automatically renewed each year. To apply for another
scholarship, you must complete another CAPF 95 and update all supporting
documentation. All of the updated information must be submitted by the 31
January deadline.
Disbursement of Scholarship Funds
Monies for scholarship funds are sent directly to
the CAP Member. You are responsible to ensure the money is utilized most
efficiently. Scholarship money may be used for tuition, books, and room
and board.
Conditions of Scholarship Awards
CAP Academic Scholarships are awarded under the
following conditions:
- Colleges or universities that you plan to
attend must be accredited by one of the six national accreditation
associations. Technical/Vocational Schools that you plan to attend
must be accredited and/or recognized and approved by HQ CAP/CP.
- You must maintain an academic and discipline
standard acceptable to the school, college, or university you are
attending.
- You must, if requested, provide a written
transcript of all completed college work.
- Your conduct must reflect credit upon the
individual and Civil Air Patrol. This includes obeying school
policies and procedures and obeying established laws.
- You must be enrolled in a full time course of
study during the academic year for which the scholarship was
awarded. Waivers must be presented to HQ CAP/CP.
- You must submit a separate CAPF 95 for each
scholarship for which you are applying.
- Cadets who will be a senior member prior to 31
January must ensure that your transfer of status is completed so
that scholarships can be awarded.
