Following an inactive period while the program was waiting for relocation, the rifle team re-activated during SY 97/98.  Since that time we have made steady improvement in our marksmanship skills.  Of course, gaining experience has helped.  This year we have 3 returning shooters (all seniors).  The other 11 on our roster are rookies showing great promise for solid team performance in the coming years.  So far after only two matches, we have improved on our previous best team performance twice consecutively (first by 2 pts, then by 46 pts)!  Last year we placed 3d of the 22 schools in Detroit thanks to consistency as opposed to high scores...our shooters were very dependable.  This year we hope to do even better.  In the past, our Experts, Patel and Loving, pushed each other hard competing in matches and Parker began to catch up.  This year some rookies are already knocking on the door of expert qualification (Perry just made it and Purifoy is close).  It's a great time to be on our rifle team.
