ARC JROTC "A TRADITION OF PRIDE WITH PRIDE IN TRADITION, THE SCHOOL 1783, JROTC 1926"
Curriculum

The curriculum consists of 180 hours of instruction that has been established and jointly approved by Cadet Command, the State Board of Education, and the local county Board of Education.

The POI for the JROTC program is broken down in four LET levels of training, LET-1 for the first year cadet, LET-2 for the second year cadet, LET-3 for the third year cadet, and LET-4 for the fourth year cadet. The core curriculum is presented in the first year and then reinforced using the building block method for the second through the fourth year.

The course of instruction, contrary to many, is not pro- military subject matter, it is primarily instruction that teaches leadership, citizenship, patriotism, discipline, written and oral communications, team building, self-esteem building, respect for constituted authority, health and safety, drug and alcohol abuse awareness, physical fitness, nutrition, life skills, and history. The subjects taught in JROTC cuts across the entire high school curriculum and after classroom discussion, cadets implement what has been learned into a real world environment. They hone their leadership skills by DOING and are constantly evaluated by their peers and instructors. All of these subjects enable the instructors to key all of their efforts into building leaders for the twenty-first century and accomplish the mission of JROTC which is to motivate young people to be better citizens.
Many POI enhancers with supporting videos, handouts, etc., have been provided and allows the instructors to supplement the POI WHENEVER and WHEREVER they feel the need warrants the injection of this material.
Some of these include:
UNLOCKING YOUR POTENTIAL
WINNING COLORS
POWER LEARNING
SKILLS MAPPING
YOU THE PEOPLE
LIONS-QUEST
HIGH SCHOOL FINANCIAL PLANNING
CADET RIDE

The curriculum has been developed by professional educators, civilian and military, and consists of all lesson plans, instructor manuals, student texts, programmed texts, test banks, overheads, supporting documents, videos, pamphlets, handouts, etc. They are constantly reviewed, updated, supplemented, and distributed to all programs in a timely manner. The proponent for this action is at Cadet Command level and rests with the Junior Division Directorate for training.

The instructors at every school have been certified as qualified to teach the curriculum by First ROTC Region Headquarters, Junior ROTC Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. All instructors are retired military officers and Non-commissioned officers with at least twenty years of active military service.
