Our JROTC Alumni are a very busy bunch. Still, they try to keep in touch with us via e-mail and visits. Needless to say, it’s a tremendous joy to see former cadets and hear how they are doing in the big, bad world. We are very proud of them all, regardless of their current status…because we are certain that success and happiness are theirs sooner or later. Recently, several visited us during our unit Christmas Party.

Timothy Harris (96) Former Battalion Commander Majoring in Criminal Justice at the Univ of Detroit Mercy.  Spearheads our paintball excursions.

Melissa Childers (97) Former Battalion Commander  Currently a junior at the US Coast Guard Academy and doing well.  Also involved in Academy recruiting and admissions work.

Ricardo Turner (98) Former Battalion Commander  Majoring in Political Science with a Spanish minor (no, he's not attached to some illegal alien jailbait). He made the Dean's List (that would be the good one) at the US Military Academy, West Point.  Hobbies include pinging, delivering laundry, and getting hazed.   Advises work hard but enjoy too...after high school the work doesn't get any easier.  Also remember, if it's worth gaining it'll be difficult to gain it.

Joel Harris (98) Former Commandant and Bn XO  Majoring in Computer Information Systems at Univ. of Detroit Mercy (GPA 3.5) adding that Renaissance was harder than college is.  Avid paintball.  Grocery store Supervisor part-time.  Advises cadets to enjoy high school and develop friendships that last.

Robert Irvine (98) Former Command Sergeant Major. X-ray Specialist in US Army attending a course in nuclear medicine, working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (Wash DC) and part-time at Hospital Center.  Attending Univ. of Maryland part-time studying Business.  Whew!  Advises "Don't
let anyone tell you it can't be done because it can."  Have faith, Renaissance serves us well.

Crystal Muthleb (99) Former Platoon Leader  Finance Major at Eastern Michigan.  With over a 3.0 for certain.  Advises that all students take advantage of what Renaissance offers because it prepares you very well for college.  Always have a plan and remember you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Gennelle Lee (99) Former Command Sergeant Major and S4  Majoring in History with a Computer Science track at the US Military Academy, West Point.  She also admits that Renaissance prepares you well for college.  Advises to learn to manage time and stay goal-oriented.  She says, "Let us be leaders and serve others, don't be a leader and serve yourself."

Matthew Cobbs (99) Former Bn S3 and attending the Univ. of Michigan

Stephanie Smiley (99) Former Platoon Leader Majoring in Marketing at Oakland University (Rochester MI).  Blessed with all God has given her during school.  She is in the Gospel Choir and attends Bible Studies.  Other than that, she keeps studying and working in the Tutoring Center.  Advises to Keep God at the head of your life, and He will direct your path correctly.

Kennetha Lewis (99) Former Bn Executive Officer  Majoring in Speech pathology  at  Tennessee State
